Located on 75 acres in the rural countryside of Lapeer County in Michigan's thumb region. Celtic Ridge is the home of Sean, Aimee, Caelan & Teagan O'Bryan and a quite a few four legged friends.
Animals are and always will be a huge part of our lives. We share our property with horses, dogs, cats, sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits and plenty of wildlife wandering around here on a daily basis. At last count, we feed well over 100 animals each morning.
Each spring, we witness the birth of a few dozen lambs from our flock of Shetland sheep. We also have started a breeding program for some of the best bloodlines of Rocky Mountain Horses. These horses are a special and rare breed - with currently less than 10,000 registered Mountain Horses alive in the US. This breed traces its roots back to the mountains of Eastern Kentucky, where they have been used for generations as dependable trail horses that can perform many tasks, and possess a comfortable four beat gate. Often the horses from this breed are chocolate with a light flaxen mane.
"A barn is a sanctuary in an unsettled world..."
We started Celtic Ridge 15 years ago to be a good place to raise a family. It really was as simple as that. Each day, from the moment the rooster crows, the work and responsibility of caring for a herd of horses, a flock of sheep, goats, dogs, cats & chickens begins. And we wouldn't have it any other way.
Somewhere along the line, we fell in love with one breed of horses in particular: Mountain Horses. This special breed of gaited horses have various names such as Rocky Mountain Horses or Kentucky Mountain Horses - but they all come from the hills of Kentucky, where for generations they have been selective bred for excellent temperaments, hardiness and a sure footed, smooth gait. We have some the finest blood lines that are the foundation of this breed. For more information about us, and how we built this farm, click here.
